Iceland Adventure Field Trip

Adventures at Midnight in Iceland

This is an Iceland trip for our hard core adventurers. We are spending 90% of our days in Northern Iceland among the whales of Husavik, the trolls of Akureyri and the faires of Lake Myvatn.

Just as the title suggests, this trip will encompass the best of North Iceland’s landscapes after-hours. You are in Iceland during the summer when sunsets occur after 11 pm and the barren landscapes will be free of people and tour buses.

This trip is part of our FIELD TRIP series and offers the explorer an 8-day exploration into the enigma that is Northern Iceland. This trip is not for you if you want a fully catered/inclusive trip to Iceland. Oustide of a thermal pool and maybe a whale watching, many of the days will be hiking and landscape focused. We will build in roam time so you can add to your itinerary.

This is from our FIELD TRIP series so prices start around $2950.

The Itinerary

Akureyri

Akureyri is Iceland's gateway to the North. As the 2nd largest city in Iceland, it boasts the best array of food outside the capital and a charming central core. We will have a welcome dinner and do some nearby hiking.

Husavik

This charming town has great hiking and whales and we will do both during our stay. In fact, it is considered the whale watching capital of the world. Be prepared for this Northern paradise to delight and relax you.

Lake Myvatn

Only an hour east of Akureyri, this lake lies in the area known as the Diamond Circle. During our stay, we are going to walk up a volcano, hike through its lava fields, swim in a thermal pool, and explore the waterfall of the gods and some off-the-beaten-path basalt canyons. Our hotel is centrally located with a view of Hverfjall volcano (pictured).

Reykjavik

Our final night in Iceland will be in its capital, Reykjavik, which means smoky bay. Enjoy the city's vibrant nightlife, go shopping or eat some rye ice cream. Our group will celebrate the last night in Iceland with a farewell dinner at one of our favorite restuarants.
