This trip is built on activity. There will be hiking adventures every other day of the trip.

The Azores are incredibly safe and friendly, with very little crime or theft.

 

Tipping is not customary but for good service, you are welcome to leave a few euros behind.

No, this trip is for anyone who wants to go to The Azores, whether they want to drink wine or not.

No, The Azores are part of Portugal and does not require a visa for American passport holders.

The diet in The Azores has a focus on seafood. These days vegetarian meals in restaurants are possible, with vegan and gluten-free less common but popping up. 

You can expect to see tinned seafood like sardines, Cod in 100 different ways, creamy egg tarts, and even hamburgers.

If you have a shellfish allergy, this will be a more difficult trip.

Yes, we started requiring proof of travel insurance for our trips. Why?

Travel is unpredictable! Flights get canceled, pipes in hotels burst and bags get lost or stolen. Piece of mind is what our tours are all about so insuring your things and sanity is paramount so The Adventure Gals strongly encourages travel insurance. The Adventure Gals partners with World Nomads for its insurance and you can receive an insurance quote. Travel insurance offers travelers coverage for unforeseen problems, from a canceled flight to a serious illness—or in rare cases, the financial default of a travel supplier. If an illness, accident, or other covered unforeseen circumstance forces a traveler to cancel or interrupt their travel plans, they face two potentially major financial losses—money invested in nonrefundable pre-payments and medical expenses that in many instances may not be covered by health insurance.

Deposit Requirement: A deposit is required (most trips) immediately after days of booking request. A booking can not be guaranteed without a deposit.

Tour Costs: Each tour must be paid in full no less than 60 days before departure. 50% of the tour must be paid no later than 120 days before departure. If booking within this time frame, the trip must be paid 100% at the time of booking. If tour fees are not paid within these time frames, tour deposits will be forfeited.

Refund Policy: There is a 10% non-refundable fee per person on all received cancellation requests, regardless of the period when the cancellation is submitted. If you cancel your Trip 90 days or more before the start date of the Trip, then you will receive a refund of 100% of the total money paid to The Adventure Gals minus the 10% non-refundable fee. If you cancel your Trip within 90 days before the start date of the Trip, then you will receive a refund of 50% of the total money paid to The Adventure Gals, minus the 10% non-refundable fee. Any cancellations made 59 days or less before the trip’s start date receive no refund. No refunds will be given to no-shows. No refunds will be given to someone who has failed to pay their balance on time and/or decides to withdraw from the Trip after the Trip has started. In the event of a cancellation, the appropriate refund shall be sent out within 4 weeks from the date of cancellation. Please note that payments paid via Stripe or PayPal are entitled to refunds less processing fees.

Tour Cancellations: The Adventure Gals reserves the right to cancel any tour for any reason and will notify each guest as soon as possible. All deposits and monies paid will be refunded 100% in such an event. These policies are strictly enforced due to logistical partners in-country and reservations made with local hotels.

No. The price of the trip doesn’t include any flights, although we are more than happy to help you book your flights and offer our money-saving tips. This trip begins in Lisbon & ends in Porto.

A Field Trip is a low-frills trip that we offer when we are researching a new country/place for future trips or if we want a more relaxed-style trip on the itinerary.

Not everything is included on a field trip which allows the explorer to add to their itinerary and not every day is tightly packed with activities.

Trip Policies

There is a 10% non-refundable fee per person on all received cancellation requests, regardless of the period when the cancellation is submitted. Cancellation fees are as follows: 150 – 121 days before the start of the trip – 50% refund given plus the 10% cancellation fee 120 days or less before the start of the trip – no refund will be given No refunds will be given to no-shows. No refunds will be given to someone who has failed to pay their balance on time and/or decides to withdraw from the trip after the trip has started. In the event of a cancellation, the appropriate refund shall be sent out within 4 weeks from the date of cancellation. Any cancellation must be submitted in writing to The Adventure Gals (letter or email). Once the cancellation has been received and processed, The Adventure Gals and its representatives have no other obligations to travelers on canceled trips, including any costs or fees related to the issuance and/or cancellation of airline tickets and other additional travel service reservations made by The Adventure Gals for you or made directly by you, including but not limited to, additional hotel nights, airport transfers, guided tours, meals, and so forth. The cancellation is policy is strictly enforced due to logistical endeavors and reservations made with various local entities.

The Adventure Gals reserves the right to cancel any trip for any reason and will notify each traveler as soon as possible. All deposits and monies paid will be refunded 100% in such an event. The Adventure Gals can not reimburse you for any flights booked for this trip. This is 100% the responsibility of the traveler. If a trip is canceled due to acts of nature, it will be rescheduled for new dates and no refunds will be offered. Monies can however be transferred to different trips and a refund could be offered if that trip is less than what was paid. Please note that payments paid via Stripe or PayPal are entitled to refunds less processing fees.

We are not offering refunds for any tour participants who catch Covid-19 before the trip departs. No tour participants who have tested positive for Covid-19 at the time of departure are eligible to go on this trip. Please refer to our cancellation policy for the refund information.

As of writing (March 2022), Portugal does not require proof of a negative Covid test to gain entrance to the country. The USA does require a test upon returning home and they are easy to get in Portugal at this time.
